Fedora-8-i-386 installation problem
Hi,
I am new with Linux this is my first step.I have window Vista on my m/c having two partitions 100 GB(Vista) , 20GB(blank).I want to install fedora8 on my m/c for 20GB partition.I have downloaded(using torrent) fedora-8-i386-DVD(~3.18GB) and Fedora-8-i386-rescuecd(~102MB) iso from fedora site.I can see two WinRAR files with above mentioned name.i burn a DVD with same WinRAR files. Now i am trying to install fedora by DVD , on restart the m/c and trying to install from CD/DVD(via BIOS) its not detecting DVD and m/c is booting in windows only. I think i am missing some thing or doing something wrong.should i unzip the WINRAR files and the burn the DVD ? Please help me out!!!!! Thanks, Mahesh |
Yup, unrar the iso files & burn them to disk using your favorite iso burning software. I use nero, but i'm sure there are some good free iso burning software out there.

Hold your horses! ISO file is not a winrar file and does not need to be unpacked. Just burn it as it is. Make sure you do not activate any extra options, like make bootable disk.
