fedora 8 a few questions about wlan and locks

I am trying to get the wlan to work on a presario 2100 broadcom BCM94306 have tried just about everything in the forums and linux found a grep command out put says I need the b43 legacy driver. I tried to install the tar ball @ the make command I recieved a CC error don't remember the code # though. Then I tried /home/craig/Desktop/wl_apsta- I got an error that states in valid path after I down loaded. I yum erased the b43 fwcutter I had installed thinking maybe they were conflicting. Can anyone tell me another way to try to load this.

Also I am trying to remove the prior two broadcom firmwares I installed they are now locked. I try to remove them. I am told I don't have authority to do so. Can someone explain how to remove them yum erase said it was success full however the locked folder is still in my home directory.

Please help I am getting frustrated.
Thank you
