"yum install kernel" would probably not work as the kernel is already installed (or you wouldn't be able to boot to type in the command).
mohsinchy: When you say "install" do you mean update? If so try: yum update kernel |
'yum install kernel' is the correct syntax. Kernels are only installed by yum, not updated. If you specify 'yum update kernel', yum is smart enough to correct that to an install.
I assume that the OP was interested in installing the latest maintenance kernel update. The command I provided will do that. |
