fedora 5 vnc session from cold boot

Using Fedora 5, if I am sitting at the pc I can log in and it starts x automatically, I then change my remote desktop settings to allow control of the desktop using xxx password. I can now access my x desktop remotely using a VNC client.

What I want to do is from a cold boot, sit at a remote location and connect to the fedora box remotely and start x. If I first log in via telnet or ssh and do the vncserver command and then point my vnc client to fedorabox:1 it starts the session but in a command line interface - startx doesn't work from here.

I want to access my remote desktop without first having to log in at the console... possible?

Can you give me the results of:

head -n 50 /etc/inittab
-------------------

Also, what windows manager are you running?
