Fedora 4 locked up so.....

When fedora 4 locked up, you could still move the mouse but you couldnt do anything so I pressed the reset button, now when I reboot the machine I get the following message:

An errror occured during the file system check dropping you to a shell; the system will reboot when you leave the shell.

It then asks me for root password, and I enter it, it then says:

(repair filesystem) 1#

What am I supposed to do?

Thank you

Repair the filesystem.... read 'man fsck' without the single quotemarks for the details.

Example; fsck /dev/hda1 (repeat for each Linux partition except swap)

Hint: fdisk -l (that's the letter 'L' not the number '1')

Hmmm...... I thought the default filesystem for FC3 is ext3, did you deciede to use ext2 or something else yourself???

Thank you for your reply, I couldnt figure it out so I went back to Suse 10.0, that whole gnome thing boggles me, I love my Suse 10.0 KDE interface, gotten so use to it, know where everything goes. But thank you for your reply, if I ever try Fedora 4 again, I'll have this printed out in my book of linux.

I perfer KDE over Gnome myself, and yes Red Hat / Fedora are gnome centeric. But I understand Suse is going towards Gnome now. I'm still learning Linux myself by reading threads here and elsewhere. I will offer help (part of the giving back for all the help I got over the years) if I can. Another member of this forum got me invloved here, I used to (and still do) hang out in some of the Linux newsgroups (old school some might say).

It's not the look of gnome that I dont like for sure, it's a nice GUI, it just seems that things that I want to find to do are scattered and not where I would think they would be. Guess it just takes some getting use to. Im going to try gnome on my suse 10.0 box whenever it reloads tonight and see how they laid things out. If it's as unintuitive (unintuitive being a subjective term here), then I'll stick with KDE.

Suse will still have KDE as default. I think Novell realised they would be committing some sort of suicide for Suse Linux if they defaulted to GNOME in what has been historically a KDE centric distro.

In your KDE screenshot what program is that, thats running on the right side of the screen, would love to have it.
