Fedora 3 update and flashplayer

Why is it that when Fedora alerts me that I have updates I have to click the (look for updates) or whatever that button is like five times before it actually says that there are updates to do....it usually will tell me three or four times that my system is up to date but the exclamation red point will still be up in the right corner...then finally it will show the updates that I have to do...

Another thing is how do I manually install flashplayer? I looked at the instructions on the page but it didn't work (I'm a newbie so don't laugh ;) ) It says to go to the directory where it was installed...then type in ./flashplayer-installer
That doesn't work for me at all....any suggestions?

THANKS

how did you do this? That should work fine.

As far as the system updating is concerned, the update tool downloads the necessary packages from a random mirror. I guess sometimes there's a lag between mirrors themselves becoming updated and that is why they say your system is up-to-date when it is not.

Another way of completing the update would be to (as root) type "yum update" at the command line. This seems to be more reliable, although sometimes it also doesn't find the updates immediately.

When you attempted to install flash-player did you get any errors or anything? Also, you might have to run the installer as root (I can't remember for sure, but its a good possibility).
