Fedora 2 Apache and Port 110/25 WTF?
I am not that new to Linux, however I don’t get on it every day. I have been using RH9 for years with no problems, (SAMBA/MAIL/WEB) but after a recent machine upgrade I decided to go with Fedora rather than the older RH9 for my home setup. Good servers 1.8 Ghz 512 megs of ram.
I run a home web site, file server and a home mail server. Couldn’t get Fedora 3 to even load up properly so I used Fedora 2. Samba is working fine, but when I edit httpd.conf the file appears to not make any difference in the web site! All I see is the default site!!! Why? Editing the conf file worked fine in RH9! I even tried the gnome utility and it will not write the file to disk for some odd reason.
I think I have Sendmail working but I can’t get past port 110/25 being blocked. I have the firewall switched off I also tried it on but unblocking port 25 and 110. (I have another firewall working with port 25 and 110 routed to the Linux box) I am using an XP laptop and Outlook Express to access the mail.
Please don’t tell me I have to use MS products to get this done, pleeeeeeseeee….
