Fedora 16, no audio output.
Hello all! Just installed my first Linux OS for many years, and am experiencing a problem with audio output, there is'nt any! No CD player or system sound at all, I guess it is down to the driver, I use an Asus motherboard with AMD dual core processor and on board graphics and audio, Asus only supply windows drivers so no help there so any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Use lspci to list your devices. For example, mine says:
Code:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)
Then check for drivers here..

hi
it might help if you name the linux distro you installed please
it may be a simple as unmuting your output sound mixer or raising the volumes
try section D of http://techpatterns.com/forums/about1813.html
if no luck read before section D and post the outputs pls
2) I assume you did nothing to the bios for your onboard sound

Hi smallpond, Many thanks for the info, before I did anything more I realised that I had not connected the web cam that also has the mic in it, so that done, followed your lead, everything working fine. once again thanks very much.
Hi Aus9, Thanks for the reply, I did think that the title "Fedora 16" did cover the distro, but I will make sure that there is more info in future, many thanks
