Fedora 15

I've recently installed Fedora 15 and installed applications like Chrome, Vlc etc.,

How do we launch these applications after being installed. I don't see them when I go to Activities-> Applications.

Hi,

The base of Linux is that anything can/must be runnable from the console. Try to open the console, type vlc and there is VLC.

I dont know Gnome 3 (you mentioned "activities"...so I assume) but you could try to make a launcher and enter the same text you'd enter in the concole...

You can find chrome on the internet section,VLC in player[don't know the exact name] section
or
press alt+F2 then type vlc

if you did NOT use fedoras own tools to install them then YOU need to manually make the launchers
for googles chrome or VLC

use fedoras yum tool from the terminal as per all of the install instructions

( sudo is NOT set up by default in fedora , fedora DOSE NOT use it by default ,YOU need to set it up if you want to use it)
