Fedora 14 won't boot on macbook pro 5,1
 

I've decided to install Fedora 14 on my Late 2008 Macbook Pro (model 5,1), but when attempting to boot from the live cd, all I get is the main boot menu, then I briefly get a grey screen with a blinking white cursor, then the screen just goes black. The computer is still running, and I can still hear the cd drive, but I have no video. I've seen the tutorials for installing Fedora 14 on a 5,1 macbook pro, and I know it's been done successfully with no mention of such issues. Any helpful ideas?

Does it have to be Fedora? Ubuntu is quite nice.

Also, are you sure your install CD is not corrupted? Old CDs lose their data after a few years and scratches don't help either.

Yeah, I'm really hoping to get fedora working. The ubuntu cd works without any problem, and if I absolutely can't solve this, i'll probably end up with ubuntu.

As for the cd, I've checked, and the hashes match, and I just burned the cd using a brand new cd

Nope, its an Intel core 2 duo 2.4ghz w/ 2gb Ram. Other people with the same model haven't had the issue, but I don't know what else to try

I completely agree, Ubuntu has much more available software by default, and in fedora you're stuck adding a repository for every unsupported app you want! The only reason I use Fedora is because my old machine can't handle Ubuntu. Plus Ubuntu is easier to get help with if you run into a problem.
