Red face Fedora 14 i686 (GNOME) live cd wont boot


Good day

I'm so new to linux I feel like a new born baby having to learn everything from scratch

I have an HP compaq 6730b laptop currently running windows7and I would like to load the gnome desktop before I install fedora 14.

problem is I cant get the live cd to boot...

please help???

Are you burn the Live CD right?

yes the cd was burned correctly

You can list the files in your Live cd.

I think I've downloaded the wrong live cd....I have a cetrino core 2 duo cpu and not an i386 cpu...

will download x86_64 live cd and report back if this worked.

Wait,not the CPU problem.The i386 Live cd also can run on X86_64 CPU.You can try live-creator to create live cd on your usb flash drives.

Good day

I found the problem. usually when I boot from a cd like windows installation disc i can leave the disk in the cd drive and just press any key to boot from cd. Not so with the fedora live cd.

I have to:
leave the cd rom tray open
press esc for the start up menu
press f9 for boot options
select boot from upgrade bay
close the cd rom tray

Boots perfectly!
