fedora 12 system hangs after 30 minutes.

Dear All,

I have installed Fedora 12 as a workstation successfully, my hardware specification is

Pentium 4 system with 2.8 GHz Processor having 512 MB Ram, which has 80 GB HDD, the primary partition where fedora 12 is installed is 20 GB,
in primary part my root part is 5 GB, having 2 GB Swap part, also has Home partition which has 12 GB.

The system installed in KDE mode and works nicely, but after 30 or 40 minutes, it is hanged. I don't know why, then I restart the system to resolve it.

Is anybody knows, why it happens, please guide me.

waiting for u r response.

Regards,

Akram

Look at system settings

Left click on the Fedora start menu. In Favorites you will get System Settings. Click, you will find Power management. Set your screen saver times, the set everything else - all the actions under all the profiles to Suspend to RAM. For safety I've set Shut Down when the Laptop Lid Closes.

Myself and several others had issues with this. I've just re-installed Fedora 12 for the fourth time and now it wakes up on wobbling the mouse. Previously it did not do this, I had to tap the keyboard and even then it did not react sometimes. It's just something Fedora does.

Oh yes, make a habit of manually saving everything you do every two to three minutes. That way you lose very little if you have to kill and restart it. Do Alt-f-a to select the correct folder when you start a new file, and then Ctrl-s like breathing. Click on the menu's to get the keyboard shortcuts 'til you remember them.
