Fedora 11 - Can't run some programs - lost ability to connect via ssh and xrdp
<<Correction>> I can still ssh to it
I am working on Fedora 11. I have been trying to set up a computer so that I can SSH into it and also use XRDP to remote desktop to it from a Windows XP laptop. I was successful in setting up both programs so that once the services were running I could access the computer.
I added links to the rc level directories rc2.d, rc3.d, rc4.d, and rc5.d so that these services would run at bootup.
There are a couple of problems with the linux computer and I don't know if they are related to what I have explained above.
I don't see the usual icons on the desktop(Computer, home folder, and trash) and I can't run some programs like Firefox. Most of all, when I click on the Places menu, I can't get any folders to open. Some taskbar tabs open stating "Starting Firefox Web Browser" and "Opening Documents", but they end up quitting without success.
If I try to run Firefox from terminal using the local machine itself I get the following error:
/usr/lib/firefox-3.5.5/firefox: /lib/libgcc_s.so.1: version `GCC_4.2.0' not found (required by /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6)
When I try to access using xrdp from my Windows Laptop I get this connection log output:
connecting to sesman ip 127.0.0.1 port 3350
sesman connect ok
sending login info to sesman
xrdp_mm>process_login_response: login successful for displa ...(cut off by window)
started connecting
connecting to 127.0.0.1 5910
error - problem connecting
I don't know what I did to make the desktop not work anymore... any help?
