fedora 1 and modem active lights

I added the modem light to the task bar but it does nothing, when I click it to connect it won't. Has anyone configured this to get it working? Thanks.

why are you still using fedora 1?

make sure your net device is properly installed. this happened to me with other distros (i think, as your question isnt very descriptive), and i had to reinstall my network device.

Hi Half,I was given a copy of Fedora to get me started on Linux, I intend to upgrade soon to ver.4. but I'm on dial up so I have to find somewhere to buy it. To be more discriptive, the USR 5610b modem is working ok to dial out although I have to connect it manually, under the devices tab its shown as "generic modem modem0 configured", the configuration is /dev/ttyS4, 115200, hardware(CRTSCTS). The modem light preferences are, connect /sbin/ifup ppp0 and /sbin/ifdown ppp0, in the advance tab its "device ppp0, Lock file /var/lock/LCK..ttyS4, verify owner of lock file is checked, I don't know what this means. The icon shows the throughput when the modem is connected but will not connect when clicked although the window comes up. Thanks.
