feather linux

hi i am trying to install feather linux to hard drive. i have managed to do it and during installation process i was asked to put name and password. and then restart. but after restarting it asks for login. for example if i named it box it says box login? i thought that meant the name i chose but it isnt then it asks for password. i have no idea what the login is as i never created any except for the name and password . i have installed dsl before and the login was that but i tried feather linux and its not that. does anyone know what i am doing wrong?

try logging in as "root"

Archlinux does the same thing, try "root" as a username.
If this works, create a new user account and NEVER log in as "root" again, unless the circumstances allow no other solution. Keep the root password, though.
this is why

As far as I can tell, feather linux was last updated in '05 version 0.7.4

You may want to try a newer distro/release....

Just my .02 worth....

If you picked Feather because you have a small, elderly computer, then I'd recommend Swift as a modern equivalent.

Freecycle, Craigslist, Goodwill, yard sales, friends, relatives, co-workers... beg, steal, or borrow a computer with more than 32mb RAM! If you upgrade your hardware, then you can run any distro you like. :)

try..
Code:

adduser username
change "username" to whatever name you wish.

If that works, login as that user.

Then try...
Code:

startx
to start a GUI
