FC9 Remote Syslog
I'm trying to setup an FC9 box to receive logs from a remote machine.
I have setup /etc/syslog.conf with local6.* (matches the remote machine sending the logs) and the path to the log file (permissions are all correct). I have edited /etc/sysconfig/syslog with the -r flag to allow incoming syslogs I have edited my iptables to allow incoming traffic via port 514. When I restart logging & network services, the logfile (in a custom directory within /var/log) is created, but nothing is ever written. I ran a tcpdump -nn port 514 and traffic is being received properly, but I'm still not seeing a thing in the file itself. What am I missing!? Thanks! |
Ugh...reloading iptables helps...all is well now!
