FC6 audio works intermittently on HP Pavilion zv6000

Hello all,

Got another noob question I guess... I've a HP Pavilion and sometimes the sound card doesn't work. When it doesn't work, usually rebooting a few times gets the card working again. It's a dual boot system with XP and audio works every time in Windows so I know the hardware is ok. In checking the configuration (System|Administration|Soundcard Detection) I see two devices:

Vendor: ATI
Model: Technologies Inc IXP SB400 AC'97 Audio Controller
Module: snd-atiixp

Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc
Model: ATI SB400 - AC'97 Modem Controller
Module: snd-atiixp-modem

I've got a funny feeling the Modem Controller configuration might be incorrect. Should I remove it and if so would I use modprobe to do that?

Also I seem to have ALSA and OSS installed together and I heard they both shouldn't be on the same system. Which one should I remove and how (I can't seem to find an OSS package on the system)?

Below is the sorted output from lsmod-----
