FC5 Suspend
 

hello, can anyone tell me how to configure the Suspend option in FC5?
I want the pc to suspend immediately when i click the button.

If you have installed FC5 to a laptop, then suspend should work out of the box. So I am afraid you will have to be more specific/detailed in your question.

What have you installed FC5 to, and by what method did you do this?
What behavior are you expecting, how are you attempting to get this behaviour, and what actually happens?

You should be aware that acpi (which handles suspend) depends on what is written in your firmware. It will not work on all machines.

do "apropos suspend" to see what you have available... peruse the man pages of likely candidates. (i.e. apmsleep(1) and device_suspend(9))

FC5 is on my desktop pc : AMD Athlon XP on Asus A7V600 board, GeForce4MX video, Samsung Syncmaster LCD monitor

When i click 'suspend' the monitor goes blank, but quite by accident i realised that the pc switched itself off after some time, apparently when i did not return soon enough. that's great, since it means i can effectively tell linux to shut down and when i come back the next day the pc can power back up and resume exactly where i had left off. i won't have to remember where i was or what i was doing.

laziness defined, right?

anyway, i want to know how i can change the default timer controlling 'suspend' so linux will suspend and shut down immediately.

is that possible?
