fc5 install

hi all,

i had a question regarding the installation of fc5.
i have 5 cd's to install from and everytime i try to install it gives an error on one of the cd's(corrupt cd ,i've installed from these cd's before so i know its probably nothing serious ) .

anyway everytime i reach an error i have to reboot the system , and start all over again ,is there some way to to restart from where i left off and not from cd1 again.

thanks in advance.

Just because the CD worked once doesn't mean it will always work. CD's are fragile. They also get dirty very easily. You can try cleaning the bad CD. Just breath on it really heavy, and wipe it in swirls on the fabric of your pants leg. That should get any goo off. Sometimes I wash a CD with dish detergent, and wipe it clean with a paper towel or two. In the FC5 setup, before you boot, with one of the "F" keys, I think "F4", there is a thing to check installation media, which would be your install CD's, to see if they are readable, or corrupt.

i do check the media before installing, it says they're ok.
forget that .
suppose i install cd1, cd 2, cd 3 then get an error message, i have to reboot . can i somehow install cd3 again and start from there or do i have start installing all over again from cd 1.

hehe, nice try...but there is no way to resume the intallation, gotta start all the way from the beginning.

Did you make the CD's your self?

I know you said you have installed successfully from them before...but hey, maybe they had to much UV rays shinning on them!, probably make a new of CD's...takes less time and trying to redo the installation 3 or 4 times...

Do you have any other problems with this cd drive? Sounds a bit like the drive unit itself to me.

nope, no problems with the drive,
i'll have to dl fc5 then.
thanks.
