FC3 soundcard problem...


hi there:

i have just installed FC3 on a desktop machine and now having sound problem. i wonder if anyone could help.

the sound card (lspci):

as far as i can tell, the relevent modules are all loaded but i am not getting test sounds in FC3 in the soundcard decetion bit.

Fedora uses ALSA for sound, and I believe by default it is muted. Try this:

Type alsamixer at the command line and a mixer interface comes up. Use the 'm' key to unmute channels and arrow keys to adjust.

When you've got everything the way you want, type (as root): alsactl store

This will save the changes you just made.

Also, there are a lot of different channels, and I still don't know what all of them are for. Just play around until you like what you hear.
