FC3 problems...

I just installed Fedora Core 3 and it works I couldnt get to work my RedHat 9 or Mandrake 10.1 so i tried FC3...but I dont have internet access and no sound...
I use Instant Wireless USB Network Adapter ver.2.5
And for the sound card i got Intel 82801FB ICH6 - High Definition Audio Controller [B-1] ??? I took this info from EVEREST software...
Since i dont know anything about linux i have no clue how to fix that...i need to install drivers or something like that?
I need any suggestion or help

if you're planning to ply mp3s on xmms(mp3 player for linux), then you should download a plugin for that. the plugin is needed to play mp3s.. search for xmms mp3 player plugin..

as for your internet connection, if FC3 didn't detect your modem as a generic type, didn't detect at all , then I suggest you search for drivers. But before you do that, try taking your modem out, boot your FC3. afterwards, turn it back of, put the modem in, then boot, in this way, FC3 can show you a message if it found your modem or not.

I will also suggest google for some support on this.

dude..another thing.. I'd lke to invite you to join www.corehackers.com..you'll learn a lot about linux from there.

I think it depends on how popular the hardware is... I've done two installations recently and not had to install a single driver... not braging just a point.

I think your best bet is to have a look in the HCL on this site for your particular modem and sound card... if you have no joy there do a search on google... in fact google has a whole site dedicated to linux searches at http://www.google.com/linux I don't know if there's a difference but experiment.

Ultimately someone should of had experience with your hardware and you will be able to get an answer if it will work with linux and where the drivers can be found. If all else fails re-do the seach but try to be less specific. The reason being is that alot of hardware has common chipsets and it's the drivers for the chipsets that you are interrested in.

Hope this made sense and didn't confuse you further.
