FC3 - No Sound

yeah getting a c compiler for fedora is damn hard, as i remember. you can do it, tho, if you try... i forget how i did. from the extent of your problems, i might think you'd want to do a comple re-install. i went through the compiler thing it was a pain in the ass and probably took longer what with frustrations than the entire fc3 install.
good luck with the soundcard stuff. although i think i have a different problem than you do, i haven't gotten sound to work in fc3 yet.

Thanks all for the help and suggestions. I think a complete re-install will have to be done. I am just trying this out on an old 6 gb hdd that is not big enough for everything, so I plan on picking up a larger, secondary hdd and go from there. I will have to reinstall anyway to do that and this time I will just do a complete install of all components.

That's why I use Mandrake. I've been running a SBlive for a long time in Mandrake and it has never given me any problems. If you would like to try it, check out my site for a how-to on getting a complete usable desktop up and running with Mandrake.
