FC3 Logout error

I've been experiencing the black screen on logout with FC3. Occasionally I will get a normal logout, but when I try to login again I get a blue screen with a frozen cursor. (Its given me nightmares about windows again - blue screen and all; I'd thought I was over that.)

I've tried some of the suggested fixes by searching lq, but haven't had any luck. After doing a file system check on reboot, the next logout was different but still a problem.

The screen displayed:
[<c030d49f>] error_code+0x2f/0x38
[<c011a578>] do_page_fault+0xa0/0x4dc

over and over with different values for several seconds, then displayed:

Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address b739d5c4
printing eip:
c0106403
*pde = 00000000
Recursive die() failure, output suppressed
<0>Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill the idle task!

I have been trying to get wireless running and installed the linuxant rpm for kernel 2.6.9-1.667.stk16 (the old was 2.6.9-1.667). When I boot with the old kernel, no problems (and no wireless - i still haven't managed it with the 16k either)

I'm not sure where to focus my efforts. Is this a kernel problem (seems like some folks have similar issues with default kernels)? Or is this an xwindows problem (I think that's what its called)? Or something else?

Just so you do not feel alone with this problem...

I am also running FC3, with the same kernel, and trying to install a wifi card and ndiswrapper. I also get the same result of blue screens and kernel panics when I try to logout. I came here looking for answers, but since I have not found any I am going to run some tests to try and narrow the problem and I will post the results here. In the interim, if you solve the problem, please let me know how.

Thanks
