FC3 hotplugging issue (kernel compilation?)
Hi all,
I recently installed FC3, which had really nice hotplugging for flash devices. Then recompiled my kernel to 2.6.9 with the rc patches and I lost it. I suspect its an option on the kernel during make menuconfig, I am going to try to make some intelligent guess lol but it looks like a long list :( so before I do that can anyone give me a heads up? Best Regards, Edmund |
oki.... I'm replying to myself here :)
just to log my thoughts Checked out apparently in my /etc/fstab in the old FC3 fstab-sync updates my /etc/fstab inserting and deleting the following line when I insert ad remove the flash disk respectively ________________________________________________________________ /dev/sda1 /media/usbdisk vfat pamconsole,noatime,sync,fscontext=system_u:object_r:removable_t,exec,noauto,managed 0 0 __________________________________________________________________ also fstab-sync reacts to HAL daemon I checked under applications>SYstems Settings>Services and HAL was running so that could not be it It says that HAL requires PnP ..... so I have recompiled my kernel with PnP Bios (experimental) If anyone sees any error please let me know :D |
enabling PnP bios made no difference.....
but now I am looking at udev stuff http://lists.ethernal.org/cantlug-0411/msg00988.html http://www.reactivated.net/udevrules.php#about http://kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/ke.../udev_vs_devfs made a rule file ... but nothing :( |
