Fc3 - Desktop too big for screen
 

Hey all, I'm back with another question. I dumped Mandrake after it wouldn't install, and I got Fedora Core 3. It installed without a hitch (!) and I really like it. But for some reason, no matter what I do in the system configuration > display setup section, my desktop doesn't fit on my display. Imagine having an 1152x864 desktop, but only seeing like 640x480. When I move my mouse to the edges of the screen, the display scrolls around. The image doesn't scale to fit my screen.

I'm running 2 monitors, and while my primary display has this problem, this other one (a smaller one) shows the correctly scaled desktop. The problem here is that it only shows a cloned image, not an extended desktop like I told it to. For now, it's good because i can at least see my whole screen until I solve the problem. I'm running a Radeon 9200, dual-vga, with a 22" NEC Accusync 125F and a 17" Gateway E700, both CRT. I installed the latest Radeon drivers, but that didn't change anything.

Any thoughts? This problem has popped up once or twice before with other users, but they didn't get any answers either. Thanks!

Well, shoot, it's all quiet on the plains. This is my last bump for this thread, so hopefully somebody will be around today that can help me fix this.

Sorry, can't help with the video problems, but I have a machine here that won't install mandrake unless I use:

linux noapic

or is it -noapic... can't remember, but it sorted the problem out.

I tried the noapic arguments up and down. It worked, I think, in text install mode, but then the installation was pretty buggy. Seeing as how Fedora was so pain-free, I'm gonna stay with that.

And now the display works normally. I may have just been logging out and not fully restarting the system, that might be why. Oh well, live and learn.
