Fax modem not detected on emac g4 running debian squeeze

Hi

I have an old emac g4.

I installed debian squeeze on it and it is running webserver, ssh, ftp.

I wanted to use it as a fax machine as well.

I have installed efax.

This apple emac has a built in fax modem.

I tried using lshw, lspci, dmesg.

But can't find any mention of dialup/fax modem anywhere.

How can i make system recognize in built fax modem of this old apple machine.

Do i need to compile kernel in order for system to recognize this fax modem.

Thank you.

Sorry I am not expert in mac but does it have pci port if yes
type the following command
Code:
lspci
and post the output here
but I am not sure if there is a way to run such an old modem on debian squeeze
I had a winmodem about 5 years ago and I struggled to run it under linux ..it ran with much difficulty
I wish you good luck

the modem is connected to a pci port but there is nothing in the dmesg output pointing to the modem..may be because it is a built-in modem it will not be easily configured if possible at all
I suggest external USRobotics external usb fax modem
