Fatal Exception OpenOffice

I've installed Open Office 2.0.0 from the source, and when I try to run it (with soffice or swriter etc) I get this:

Fatal exception: Signal 6
./soffice: line 224: 5411 Aborted "$sd_prog/$sd_binary" "$@"

There were no problems during the compilation/installation.

As I'm pretty new to Linux, I have absolutely no idea as to how to fix this. All I know is that it took about 8 hours to compile this, so I'm not very keen on just trying a reinstall.

Running slackware 10.1

Thanks for any help!

If you're new to Linux why would you compile OpenOffice from source? From my FreeBSD experience I remember OpenOffice being the worst thing to compile yourself I encountered. Why not just download the packages from Since the package there just consists of precompiled binaries I guess it should work fine in Slackware 10.1.

Hehe, it took five minutes to download, 5 minutes to install and it works fine with my Slackware 10.1 release. Thanks a lot, I don't know why I didn't try the package out first. Stupid hybris, thinking I could install from source =)

Again, thanks a lot for the advice!
