Family Roots program

I need a 'FAMILY ROOTS program. Any help would be appreciated

I can recommend Webtrees (http://www.webtrees.net/index.php/en/); from the introduction:

That "... all you need to use it ..." line above means installing and configuring Apache, PHP and MySQL (Webtrees stores all your data in a MySQL/MariaDB data base, accesses it with PHP and displays it on a web page in a browser). Your distribution may already include Apache, PHP and MySQL/MariaDB or you may need to install them from the software additions.

If you have an existing family history program; e.g., Family Tree Maker, you can export your data as a GEDCOM file and import it into Webtrees (saves a whole lot of typing) via a flash drive or CD-ROM.

Webtees is a pretty good system. I've been using it and its predecessor (PhPGedView) for some years after migrating all my family trees from Family Tree Maker. Works fine, easy to learn, well documented and supported by the user community and developers.

I'm using Genj which only requires a JVM 1.6 or newer to be installed. Very robust and efficient to handle standard GEDCOM files.

there is "Gramps" and it can use the Mormon LDS data format

If you want to use it on your local computer, you could install XAMPP. It works very nicely.

XAMPP is not designed to be public-facing out of the box.

If you're using it for managing your own private genealogy data, I find Gramps (Genealogical Research and Analysis Management Programming System) pretty good.
I think most distros have it in their repositories so installing it's fairly simple.
