Fam process using 100% CPU

Hi,

I'm using SuSE 8.2 and at times I see the "fam" process taking 100% CPU, and it doesn't seem to stop unless I reboot. Does any one know why this might be occurring and if this is a remedy?

Thanks,
Tom
