Is there some other way we could do this?
Honestly, I don't know what else I can do. I'm not exactly an expert on this stuff myself.

I apologize if I seem to have been less than helpful... Perhaps what you could do in the meantime is attach a photo of your screen showing the output of grep "(EE)" /var/log/Xorg.0.log. This command will search for the pattern "(EE)" in the Xorg log file (this is what it uses to show errors). The only disadvantage to this is that if there are too many error messages, they'll scroll off-screen (although you can scroll up/down by using Shift+PgUp/PgDn).
