please help me in the following scenario :


source directory: /d03/oracle/archive
target directory: /d04/oracle/archive (mounted drive with NFS)

I manually copied all the files from the source to the target.(once). then source directory is added with another 30files each of size 11mb.. then inorder to copy only the recently added files from the source to the target I issued the command :

rsync -av /d03/oracle/archive /d04/oracle/archive

as expected, this command doesnt copy only the recent files rather it creates a folder under /d04/oracle/archive/archive and copies all the files from source to target again.. I want to copy only the recent files from the source to the target... how to acheive this ?

Check the information about trailing slashes in rsync man page - from memory rsync treats "/srv/this/dir" and "/srv/this/dir/" differently, and you must use the correct forms to get the results that you expect.
