Failed Dependencies

I am trying to update glibc from 2.3.3.74 to 2.3.4.2 using up2date in FC3. It hangs so I have to abort. I tried downloading the rpms separately but they will not install - failed dependency messages.

Any suggestions greatfully received

I don't use rpm so I'm going straight of the man page here, but type rpm -R <filename> and see what pops-up, odds are you have to download more than a couple rpm to update. That command should give you a list of the dependencies, make sure they are all met.

Try to upgrade using apt or yum.

Thanks, I used yum. After doing some editing with the yum.conf file to locate a decent mirror site, I did -

yum update glibc

and it went away and did the rest. Very impressive. Thanks to the guys at Duke University for writing it.
