Talking fail installation of openoffice_3.0.1 in slackware 12


i'm newbie. i have failed to install openoffice 3 in my slackware, i have used these commandline :
tar xvfz OOo_3.0.1_LinuxIntel_install_wJRE_en-US.tar
-------> the file extracted
cd RPMS/
-------> got comment like "no RPMS"
rpm2tgz *.rpm
-------> got comment like "wrong rpm2tgzipo"
installpkg *.tgz
-------> got comment like "no *.tgz file
how is the right way to install this program ?
where the extracted file stored ? if that files became garbage in my linux, how to clean it ?
Thanks for your help, sorry for my english and wait for my next stup*d questions.

There is a better alternative to this

You should try the Slackbuilds from official slackware sources(DVD/sources) and modify the slackbuild script to change the version and make a tgz from that.

You can get 3.0.1 OOo slackbuild script there.
