F310 controller

Why won't my Logitech F310 controller work on linux mint 19.2.
Is it a mint problem or are the games on the software manager not suitable for a controller?
HELP

What have you done so far to attempt to make it work?

Amazingly, I'm experienced enough to come up with a troubleshooting checklist right off the top of my head...

I assume you start by plugging it into the USB port, right?

Do you see a /dev/input/js0 device after that?

Can you "cat" it? Or do you get "permission denied"?

When you do "cat" it, do you see things happen when you manipulate the controls?

In-game, does anything happen when you manipulate the controls?

When you press the "A" button on the gamepad, does the game register it as a press of the "A" button, or are the controls mapped wrong.

I see nothing after I plug the F310 into usb port.
I don't know what you mean by "cat it"

The game "supertux cart" does show the F310 controller as in input device, but nothing happens with the controls.

When I press the "A" button nothing happens.

At least the game does show a selection of either keyboard or F310 controller.

Thanks,
Barriegarry.

I have the exact same controller , works every time with usf4 here.

plug in the usb controller.

And give us the output of :

# ls -l /dev/input

does it show a /dev/input/js0 or js1 ?

Do you use steam ? or is it a solo local game on your pc ?
Give as much details as you can.

On a update , there is a switch behind the controller giving the option of X (xbox input) and D (direct input).

try toggling between those switches to see if you game accepts input from the controller.
