F***!!!! A Brand New Problem for Me!!

Hey everyone. For those of you who don't know I posted a question "Reinstalling Linux" (scroll down the message board and you'll be able to find it) and got some responses (thanks to those did try and help BTW:) ), but now I got a brand new problem. I read on a site that you can get rid of the MBR by just deleting what was on the Linux partition, so I used Partition Magic to do that. Thing is though that when I turn my computer on now a black screen comes up that says "LI". That's it! I tried booting from the floppy and CD-ROM but it doesn't work. I'm pretty sure all my data (i.e. MP3s, pictures, programs, etc...:( ) are gone, but right now I just want my computer to boot up properly. I made a MS-DOS startup disk and can boot into DOS but I don't know where to go from there (I don't even know if i should even be doing that in the first place!). Any ideas?

-HD :( :jawa:

OOPS!! Bad advice  . What you are now seeing is the code that remains in the MBR trying to find LILO -- which it can't. What you can do is use your MS-DOS startup disk, boot into DOS, then enter: fdisk /mbr. That will write code to the MBR that should allow Windows to start up.
