And just because you go for a lightweight WM that doesn't draw icons on the root window doesn't mean you have to live without them. Here's my fluxbox screenshot, complete with desktop icons drawn by iDesk

Lots of screenshots here!!!
And the navigation is superb.
For example, go to "Screenshots" then "Browse Screenshots by Applications" and you will see which apps looks the best!

And I think it is helpful that it tells you what apps have been used in the respective screenshots so that you dont have to go asking around "what is this" and "what is that".
