NTFS actually sucks but this has nothing to do with linux. The read support for ntfs in linux is very very stable and robust. If you think kernel recompilation is too much for you, just down the kernel module rpms from sourceforege, it is very easy to install.

About the ati drivers, you have to edit your xorg.conf file and change the driver name to ATI in the device section. I don't use ati so i dunno the exact driver name but you can get the driver name from atis webpage or in the readme file supplied with the driver.

Hmm, about the keyboard/mouse drivers for non-standard functions, theres only onw way, the keyboard/mouse vendor should provide linux drivers.
