External hard drive not showing up?

I am using Suse 9.2 Pro, and when I boot my machine my external hard drive does not show up. If i unplug the USB cable and move it to a new slot it does. I am using KDE 3.3 and when I do move it, it shows up as an unmounted drive. Is there a way to get it to show up on boot up without moving the cable? Should it be mounted, Should it be formated to somthing other than FAT32? HMMM, Help?

Update, now that I have moved it to all of my USB ports it does not show up at all :(

You may want to find the line that deals with your drive in /etc/fstab and paste it in a reply. :)
