Extend Partition size.

I have a partition /dev/sda5 whose size is 41 GB can i increase its size by lost nothing on it.

I have running this linux machine as virtual machine so i can add or increase from virtual disk size from virtual software but on linux level how can i achive this task

Please note that i donot have physical volume and logical volume

You can use gparted ( for instance ) to resize a partition or you can use the cli, but it is SLOOOoooowwww, I have found if I need to resize a partition its quicker to back up the data delete the partition resize it and then restore the data, either way make sure you back up your data BEFORE resizing as if somthing goes wrong during the opertaion you could end up losing all the data on the partition.
