EXT3-fs error (device sd(8,7)) in start_transaction: Journal has aborted

Hi All,
I am running RHEL3.6 on a server machine with "Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2216".The RAM is 4G and HDD is 500GB.
Recently i am getting an error message in dmesg as "EXT3-fs error (device sd(8,7)) in start_transaction: Journal has aborted"
And the machine is not working properly.
Once i changed the SATA disk from sata0 to sata1 and it was working for two days but after that its giving the same error.

Can any one help me

Thanks in advance
Regards,
Hari

yeap it is tym to run fsck.ext3 /dev/sda7 or your /etc/fstab file is diferent from your drives.

Hi Drakeo,
Thanks for the replay. But in the fstab file i specified only disklabels and its not changed.
fsck.ext3 also not helping.First when i got tghis error i tried it and it moved all inodes to lost+found forcing me to reinstall the os and after that it worked for on day and now it starts giving the error. When i changed the sata port it is working.
Is this a hardware problem or some bug?
Please replay..

I noticed that one gets more error information when one does a
Code:

shutdown -F -r now
That forces a file system check during boot -- why it might see more I don't know, in my case it just does...

After a long time we could identify the exact the problem. There was some kind of power fluctuation on the port wer the server was connected and it causes the problem.
We identified it we HDD of another m/c connected to the same port got corrupted then our support team did some some testings and they confirmed it.

Thanks for the help.

Hari
