experienced xp user branching out
 

i'm running a crappy sempron with xp right now. i'm going to be upgrading to an intel dual core in a few months, and want to be able to boot of many different operating systems.

my plan is to buy a 100 gig sata drive, split it into 4 partitions, and install linux, xp, vista, and osx each on a separate partition, and use a solid 3gig intel dual core on a solid nvidia or intel mobo, with an 8800 pci express card.

what is the feasibility of easily being able to choose which os you'd like to boot on the fly without any sort of floppy or boot disk or dealing with any type of command line, similar to booting two copies of xp on the same partition. also, can i expect to get the drivers working fairly easily if i plan my hardware right?

am i wasting my time?

if it is possible to set up, i'd be willing to put a lot of work into it. i would love the idea of being able to boot off any os, and having access to all of me media and such (on a separate sata drive, of course) using pretty much any software out there.

OSX cannot be legally installed on anything but Apple hardware. Discussing how to install OSX on standard intel hardware is probably against the forum rules since it is plainly illegal, not to mention it requires some pretty serious hacking at the bios level. Installing Vista and XP along with linux should be no problem however. Just install your windows OSes first then linux.

oh wow. i knew that it's a bit of a hack to get it working, but i definitely know of people who run osx on ibm thinkpads and such.
