exit from chrooted environment cause a crash

Hi!

I am following this guide to install gentoo. http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handboo...d64.xml?part=1

Everything looks fine untill I reached the step 10.d. Rebooting the System.
What I did: send command "exit" to quit the chrooted enviroment.
What happened: the system freezes up without any further respond.

Because I know I am newb to gentoo, I do have some trail and errors during the installation. To avoid potential and cumulative errors, I started over the installation a few times, just because I want have a error free installation, that might make things easier.

I installed virtually by virtual box. I took a snapshot at the point before "exit" command inputted.

Any suggestions?
Maybe some log files are read-worth?

If you get errors during the installation then there is either something wrong with your configuration or with the way you launch the commands.
Please give us the exact points where you get errors, which command you have launched at that point and which error message you get. Be as exact as possible.

Thank you for the replyment!
Although the handbook I gived describes what I did, I can still summerize it in short. So you guys can save time.
What I did:
fdisk to Partition, activated the Swap Partition, Mount, download, unpack stage files, configure compile options, chroot to the new Environment, configure portage, the kernel, modules, system (/etc/fstab), network information, locales, installed system tools(syslog-ng, Cron Daemon, mlocate), file system tools, (emerge reiserfsprogs and emerge e2fsprogs), bootloader(grub). And the last step, rebooting the system using exit command. The system freeze up.

Let's see if these info helps, I can go more in detail if you want.

Again, which errors did you get at which state? Exactly, please, otherwise nobody here is able to help.
