Friends, Neighbors and Fellow Countrymen,

I am running Redhat Linux 7.0 and have WordPerfect.tar.gz , the GNI. I have unzipped it to tar
and have un-tared it. The "Runme" executable file, foregive the DOS slang, will not execute with sh. I have tried [sh]
and [man sh] in the shell and on the command line. It will
not run. Also, according to the installation instructions,
the installation will not work if the display options are
not set correctly for the GUI installation. What am I doing
wrong or what have I not done?

Very Appreciatively,

Halfbreed

What exactly are you typing on the command line? Are the permissions set correctly for the file to execute?

This is not a reply. Its the same question as Halfbreed's. I can't install Wordperfect 8 from a CD (free with Linux Format) and don't understand how to work Runme. Can you help, please? I need step by step instructions.
Its Redhat Linux 7, running with Gnome interface.

thanks

tony, you need to copy the file to a directory such as /tmp, then execute it. I have used the exact same file off the Linux Format Cd and I can't remember how I did it but you may have to use a shell. Goto the directory you have placed the wordperect Runme file by:

cd /tmp

then you need to execute the file by:

sh <whatever the file is called!! EXACTLY>

or you may need to put in the path:

sh /tmp/<FILE NAME>
