Exe Files
i have just downloaded irc.gamers.exe and i want to install the file but its asking me to open the file with a program what sort of program do i open the file with?
only just worked out how to change the res on linux sorry i am really really new 2 this forum |

in linux the extension doesnt realy matter that much (some programs might use it , others wont) i think its called mime(?) that says what kinda file it is, and on the comand line, it doesnt matter a single bit as bash will only execute programs wich contain certain permission saying that using can execute the program, (might seem kinda strange, but it works better then using the extensions, saving a text file with a ".com" extension in windows makes windows try to run the file , while in linux itll just be a text file

still can't run an .EXE natively in Linux even if you chmod 777 and name it runthisfileplease.sh
You still need a windows environment for a windows application. |

THere are loads of different clients if you search around - kde, gnome, etc all have their own version. One of the most robust is bitchx - get it here

/me puts a.b.c. gum on megaspaz's chair
I don't know about BitchX for someone who you claims to be "really really new". A simpler option is Xchat |
