Unhappy .exe files

Hi All,
I've recently downloaded "Doom" for linux but cant seem to get the file to open/run to install it.
I've tried clicking and via the run command but no joy.
Any ideas?
Cheers,

If it has a .exe entension then you have probably downloaded the windows version.

If it has another extension, .bin is common for executables, then you can try this:

Code:
cd /path/to/directory/containing/doom.bin/
chmod a+x doom.bin
./doom.bin
