Evolution Problems

I am currently having difficulty sending emails to a Hotmail account from Evolution. The address is <57 characters>@hotmail.com, 69 characters in all. This problem is, in turn, preventing anything else in the Outbox being sent back to my mail server (on the LAN, SMTP). Is it a problem with the length of the addy or something else? Should I 'contact my system administrator' (aka my dad)?

The error message is as follows (where I say addy it says the full email address):
"Error while performing operation:
RCPT TO <addy> failed: Unable to relay for addy"

This is kinda holding a few things up and I am loath to delete the message itself.

Cheers,
Dan

You want me to make this a really simple explanation?

Ok, are you trying to send an e-mail through your server from a hotmail account. If so, this is your problem:

Your server (quite rightly) is stopping the sending of mail through it that is not from your domain. This is a security feature to stop spammers hijacking your server for their evil deeds. You need to get your Dad (aka the sys admin ) to configure so that it will allow relaying from either that specific e-mail addy or just from that domain (hotmail.com) in general.

Careful! You're explaining things again.

Cheers, I'll try that when I can next catch him.
