Evolution Duplicates

Hi,

I am a bit new to all this so please excuse any "inappropriates". I am using 10.10 but am having a problem with duplicates being automatically downloaded into my inbox in evolution. This has not happened under 10.04 with the same settings. Can anyone suggest a way to rid my inbox of the dupes?

It seems to have faded away after the "official release" but I still have a messed up inbox. I use gmail recent mode with pop settings. Any help appreciated.

Many thanks,

Seaban

All you have to do is delete the index files in the mail folder that is affected.
Evolution will rebuild the indexes and all is OK thereafter

Many thanks - I am sure this is a solution and I would be able to implement it if I could find the "index" files. I know - I really should be better than this.

It should be somewhere in your home folder with hidden attributed called evolution. You can also check the same in the evolution settings Edit > Preferences or Edit > Account settings. I am not sure which one of this is true but one of them is. You could check both of them.

Well, you're welcome, but I am curious...what do N, C and A stand for in your posts ?

A(nisha) Thanks again for all the help. I have adopted a shorthand from another system and use addressee's initial to identify the sender to whom I am replying. I hope I have not caused any offence.

No, that was not offensive but confusing  I doubt if this system will work here on LQ !

Hi all,
Thanks for your advise. I have tried the solution suggested by removing all the index files from the .evolution folder and restarting Evolution Mail. It seems to be to no avail but I assume I am doing something wrong. I just get my total set of emails back duplicates and all. I wonder has it something to do with the fact that I have instructed Evolution to leave all my messages on the server. Perhaps I should have deleted other files or adjusted some other settings,

How about considering the Evolution Mailing list ?

I have tried out the mailing lists without a great deal of success. Perhaps I am not using them as I should but I will persevere. They do appear to be for people who are more advanced than I.

Thanks again,

Thanks again,

I am sorry to hear that but there are some rules for the mailing lists which I hope you have followed:
1. Only one question per post.
2. Don't write in paragraphs, no one has time to read them. Write the mail in bullet points and be as precise as possible yet covering all the factors you have tried and encountered.
3. Do bother to send back a thank you mail, if you found "them" to be helpful.
