Unhappy Everything was fine, nothing changed, now can't boot! :(

I have no idea what could have gone wrong, but being such an idiot newbie lord knows if i'll be able to get my system back. Last night I get home from work, boot up, lilo loads, i select linux and am in. I surf the net a little then shutdown. This morning I try to boot up and on boot I get:

Boot failure from previous device
boot failure
insert boot diskette in A:

It all happens so fast I can't even get into my bios. I put in my mandrake10 disk 1, tried rescue, restore lilo boot loader, no good. tried mounting my disks and that worked so I know it's not a dead drive. ButI am a severe newbie, i thought lilo livedin sbin folder but did not see it. I don't know what to do, I tried using some GAG boot disk but that did nothing.

I have no idea how to get it back and fear whatever someone recommends will be way over my head.. Thanks for any help!
