Ethernet Question

Ok guys, another post from me.. LOL. I actually whent out and got an Ethernet card. Its a NetGear. When I got it home today I took out my dial up modem (because i know that pci slot works) and when I tried to put the ethernet card in it seemed it was to big. But the guy at best buy says that it will fit ANY pc. I dont agree, because i had to force it into the pci slot (yea, I know, bad idea ).. Is the card to big or is there some SECRET to putting those in? its like 1/16 in. bigger than the pci slot (im not sure, around there..Im not good at measuring). I hope you guys can help me

Oh here are the stats for the card:
Quote:
Allows for use in both 3.3 and 5-volt pci systems
and its a FA311

Hope this helps

I just checked your card and yes it is PCI and so it would fit. As for the 1/16 inch being bigger, it looks that way but what is probably happening is that a part of your NIC card is probably hitting the motherboard. I have installed lots of NIC cards in the past and yes, I know what you mean, they seem bigger but if you situate them the right way they fit into that PCI slot perfectly. Try a different PCI slot. I'm 100% positive it will fit in one of your PCI slots...
