Etherchanneling configuration steps on SUSE Linux E 9.0

Has anyone configured etherchanneling on SUSE Linux E 9.0. I am having a little trouble getting the "bond0" interface to come up automatically on boot up. manually after the boot I can start it without problems, but the way it is described in the "How to Doc" it does not seem to come up on boot. Does anyone have a cookbook type way of configuring etherchannel?
Any insights would be appreciated!

Ether-channeling on Suse Linux was completed successfully with adapters eth0 and eth1. the second part to this configuration is to complete the link aggregation, which seems to not round robin between the adapters. The eth0 can be ifdown and the bond/eth1 will remain up, however when eth1 is ifdown, the bond/link goes down with it. This should not be the case, either adapter should take over and the bond0/link should remain up if working correctly. Can anyone speculate on the aggregation issue?? why the other adapter does not accept failover of the failing nic.
